Is GEO just SEO with a different name?

No. SEO targets ranking position in a list of links. GEO targets inclusion in the synthesised answers AI engines generate. The technical foundations overlap (structured data, content quality, site architecture) but the optimisation targets, measurement methods, and content patterns differ materially.

Do I still need traditional SEO if I do GEO?
